Martin and Mikel once again had a lot of fun this year riding at the Bikers Classics in Spa/Francorchamps. Conny also came to visit them. His 2-stroke Suzuki is still not finished, but he's now working on a 350 TZ to ride next year. Paolo, a friend from Florence, was also there with his original Augusto Brettoni Laverda SFC, as well as Marcus on Martin's Guzzi Daytona Dr. John.
For this event, Martin received his brand-new Laverda SFC Replica. Besides the Guzzi, he also brought his Laverda Diecimila. Mikel, as in most recent years, took a ride on the TT1 Replica. However, he mainly used his 1981 Mike Hailwood Replica.
While Mikel's motorcycles, as usual, ran very well – with just a few minor issues with the throttle cable and carburetor – Martin had less luck this year: the Guzzi had to give up after two runs due to a faulty clutch. The Diecimila didn't get off the line at all, as the clutch also failed at the start. The new SFC did run, but the Maxton fork had a major problem. It wasn’t working at all and couldn’t be ridden in that condition.
Another issue was that the Laverda SFC Replica needed to be broken in, which is not so easy on a racetrack. The only option was to go out last and come back in after 3 laps when being overtaken. Anything else would be too dangerous.
Also present were Angelo and Giulio (his son) from Spilimbergo. Angelo built Martin's two Laverdas.
In the end, it was once again a fantastic atmosphere, and like the past 15 years, we’ll definitely be back in 2025. Classic Racing is simply the best!
