On third of June 2023, 17 AMAL members gathered in Brouch for the annual Kultour. Leaving at 9h30, we headed to the Moselle region since todays destination is located in the close vicinity of the German border.
Riding for approximately 80 kilometers on fabulous Luxemburgish roads, we arrived at our destination around 11 o’clock, where Raymond Niesen welcomed us in his unbelievable collection of VeloSolex mopeds. If your better half tends to moan about the number of motorcycles or the heaps of parts in your garage, just show him/her these pictures. You should be quiet for quite some time after that.
Raymond Niesens collection includes everything, absolutely EVERYTHING VeloSolex related. From prototype no. 2! to at least one specimen of every model range ever built. All of this surrounded by thousands of artifacts bearing the name VeloSolex. You’ll even find a 24 Carat gold plated Solex, built for the company’s 60th anniversary.
After the guided tour, we left the premises heading in the direction of Grevenmacher, Kapenaker and Beyren to stop in Mensdorf for lunch at Café Am Duerf.
AMAL would like to thank its member Mike Koedinger for the great day as well as Raymond Niesen for showing us this Holy Grail of VeloSolex collection.
Oh, by the way; next time you are proud about your trunk full of motorcycle parts you bought at a swap meet, remember Raymond Niesen flew to Detroit to buy one Solex just to return with said moped as well as 8 tons of brand new VeloSolex parts
